Our Executive Pastor- Reverend Julia Dorman
Biography of Reverend Julia Duncan-Dorman
Saved at the age of 15, Reverend Dorman grew up in the
Coleman Memorial U.M. Church in Wilmington, DE. While
serving in the capacity of Stewardship Chairperson--she grew in
her walk with the Lord. A door was opened to assist with
Stewardship education of the Delaware Peninsula Conference
of the United Methodist Church where she taught workshops
for two years. It was while serving in this role her gift of
teaching was discovered.
1993 she joined Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ in Southwest, Philadelphia. There she served
as the lead adult Sunday school teacher, the Pastoral Care Team under the leadership of her
then Pastor, Reverend Guy Craig Davis, Jr. Reverend Dorman preached her initial sermon in
August 2000; she was consecrated, licensed and elevated to Evangelist-Missionary receiving her
credentials to preach from the Church of God in Christ, September 2000.
In 2002, she felt the Lord directing her to pursue additional training and education. Reverend
Dorman graduated from the Christian School of Ministry at Eastern Baptist Theological
Seminary, Wynnwood, PA; (now Palmer Theological Seminary at Eastern University, St. David’s,
PA) with a diploma in Pastoral Care Studies in May 2006. Reverend Dorman completed her
internship for Pastoral Care and provided spiritual formation leadership for the youth ministry
at Chippey Chapel in 2005-2006.
In the role of volunteerism she served at Sojourners in the linen closet and would later connect
with the Lutheran Ministry to assist and serve the community through bible study in 2007-2008.
Under the leadership of Pastor, Reverend Lolita Jackson she joined the Friendship Baptist
Church June 2012. Reverend Dorman’s feet hit the ground running where she taught Sunday
school, bible study and assisted her Pastor in any way she could. In November 2013 she was
licensed to preach in the Baptist Church and elevated to Minister. After the passing of her
beloved Pastor, recommended by the Deacons and her church family she was ordained;
receiving her credentials through the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Association in August 2014.
Reverend Dorman served as Interim Pastor providing pastoral care, preaching and teaching
faithfully for over two years until the appointment of the New Pastor, Rev. Dr. Benjamin
June 2017, she united with the New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church as an Associate Minister
under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Bishop William Wilmore, Jr. Today her gift continues to
make room for her. Reverend Dorman was appointed by Bishop Wilmore as the Executive
Pastor at New Galilee in October 2017. Currently she is responsible for the pulpit/ministerial
staff, is spiritual advisor for the SOS women’s ministry, assists her Pastor in whatever is
assigned to her hands to make it happen. She is a worship leader, is a Sunday school teacher,
leads bible study when directed and is a proclamator of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Reverend Julia is married to Deacon Arnold Dorman and they reside in Wilmington, DE.
“Any good that I do is the Lord’s work and all the glory belongs to Him!”
This is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalms 118:23
